About Becki: the vegan yogini behind the screen
Our founder Becki is a holistic health coach, plant-based nutritional therapist, ayurvedic and naturopathic practitioner, yoga teacher, breathworker, and mindfulness trainer (she likes to collect certificates, LOL).
She created The Glowing Vegan to teach you how to use plant-based food, mindful living, and movement medicine to help you heal, thrive, and look and feel amazing.
Becki deeply believes that going vegan is the key to doing good for yourself, the animals, and the planet.
And though she used to be a meat-eater, veganism actually runs in her fam.
Her grandma was a vegan before anyone even knew what that was, and used to run her own organic health food shop. She also used to rescue tons of dogs and cats who needed re-homing, so Becki loved to spend time hangin’ out with all the animals as a kid.
Her dad has been a vegetarian all her life; she grew up eating Quorn bacon instead of ‘real’ bacon, and Quorn roasts for Christmas instead of turkey (everyone at school thought this was super weird).
But Becki’s own story really began when her health was suffering badly. She was overweight, chronically exhausted, and navigating severe anxiety. And she had no idea what to do about it.
Since she was a huge personal development junkie – and still is – she put that positive mindset to work, and committed to figuring out this whole health thing.
Here’s what she eventually did:
- Went to see a nutritionist, who helped her sort out her diet
- Went to see a therapist, who helped her get her head straight
- Taught herself how to cook super simple, quick, easy plant-based meals
- Quit drinking alcohol and coffee, and quit smoking
- Started going to yoga classes, and began a daily meditation practice
And the results speak for themselves, since she:
- Lost 30kg (and counting!) and 2 dress sizes
- Had more natural energy than she’d ever had in her life
- Actually started to enjoy cooking and working out
- Slept like a freakin’ baby
- Became a successful healer, coach, and serial entrepreneur
… and she puts all of this down to her mindful, plant-based lifestyle shift.
Her new philosophy? Treat your body like a luxury vehicle, not a rental car. Feed your body, mind, heart, and soul well. It’s never too late to get started. Seriously.
